Harvest

The arrival of the harvest:

Marks the beginning of the production of renowned wines

The grape harvest is the process of picking grapes in Burgundy, France. It is an important time for winegrowers and can be a very busy time for harvesters. Harvesting is usually done by hand, with particular care taken to select the highest quality grapes to produce the best wine. 1/4 of the estate is harvested by hand. It includes vines made into Crémant de Bourgogne as well as old parcels that are difficult to access. Three quarters of the harvest is carried out by mechanical harvesting. Over time, we have invested heavily in equipment to ensure optimal quality of our grapes. This is what allows us today to harvest at full maturity.
Harvesting the grapes

A wine-making tradition

LHarvesting is an important process in wine production. Grapes are harvested when ripe and sorted to ensure that only the best quality fruit is used for wine production. The method of harvesting can vary depending on the region and grape variety, but in general it is done by hand or by machine. The harvested grapes are then pressed to extract the juice, which is fermented to produce wine.
The harvest season can vary depending on the region, climate and grape variety. In general, it takes place between September and October in temperate regions. The quality of the harvested grapes can be affected by many factors, such as weather, pests and diseases, and therefore it is important to have good vineyard management to maximise the quality of the harvested grapes.
Finally, the harvest is often seen as a festive time in wine communities, with events and celebrations to celebrate the harvest.
